July 2006
Friends Karen Eschebach, a professional organizer, and Jennifer Weaver, a stay-at-home mom, had a light bulb moment! Why not bring organizing tools and techniques to those that can benefit most from it… EVERYONE!
August 2006
The Clever Container company was created. After a trip to Washington D.C. to participate in the Direct Selling Association (DSA) training for start-up companies, the concept of Clever Container continued to unfold.
September 2006
Clever Container joined the Direct Selling Association (DSA), the trade association of leading firms that manufacture and distribute goods and services sold directly to consumers away from a fixed retail location.
January 2007
After many successful vendor shows, Clever Container introduced their Organizing Party format. Then, a chance article in the Business section of the Detroit News brought forth interest from various states across the U.S.
March 2007
Clever Container launched their first consultants. The company continues to grow as more and more Consultants join this unique business opportunity.
June 2008
Clever Container obtained full membership in the Direct Selling Association (DSA). Clever Container supports the DSA’s Code of Ethics, a promise to uphold the highest set of business practices.

Closet Clean-Out
The Closet Clean-Out Class is a little more entailed, but teaches a lot of great information. It can be helpful to have a collapsible garment rod for this class. Prior to the class, have your hostess bring out an armful of clothes, just as they would be in her closet. No need for her to try and straighten them, sort them, etc. (that’s your job).
You begin by teaching the 20/80 rule which says that people typically wear 20% of their clothing 80% of the time. One way to thin out a bulging closet of the clothes we never wear is to begin by turning all clothes hangers backward in your closet. Each time you wear a piece of clothing and are ready to return it to the hanger, turn the hanger around. Do this every time you wear a piece of clothing for about 4 months. By the end of the season you’ll be able to see which pieces of clothing you never even touched. Your goal will be to rid yourself of 50% of untouched clothing.
The next step is to sort the clothing you have. Begin by sorting shirts by length of sleeve (straps, sleeveless, short sleeves, ¾ sleeves, long sleeves). Same thing with pants and skirt.the shorter items begin first and you’ll work toward the longer lengths. You’ll then teach guests how to sub-sort by color. The benefit of having clothing sorted this way is that the next time you go shopping you’ll be able to visualize exactly what you have in your closet. You’ll know if you have too many black shirts, etc. and can pass up buying the next black shirt.
Another simple tip that will give the instant appearance of a cleaner closet is to eliminate all mismatched hangers. Stick with one color and style of hanger and your closet will have an instant face-lift.

Clutter Cutter
The Clutter Cutter class involves guest participation. You give a few guests each a note card that states a common household problem. At your request, a guest reads off their problem and this then becomes your prompt to walk them through some of our products that would alleviate that clutter hot spot. For example: COMMON HOUSEHOLD PROBLEM #3 – Your sweaters are tumbling out of your closet; you've put on navy socks instead of black and your linen closet stays closed for fear that everything will fall out when you open the door!
Office Organizing
The Office Organizing class identifies the three major hotspots in offices that collect clutter: drawers, desk tops, and shelves. We recognize all the emotional strain and lost time that accompanies an unorganized office whether at in the home or elsewhere. Next we talk about the four step process that we use to tackle office clutter: Sorting, Purging, Creating (a filing system that works for you) and Maintaining (biting off small chunks of time to keep your office in order). Tips are then shared on how people can find those small chunks of time throughout the day to help create the habit of staying organized.
Product Demonstrations
Product Demonstrations involve audience participation as well. If you are new and feel intimidated about jumping right into a class, you can always divide the guests into small groups and give each group a product or two. Tell each group to come up with ways to use this product in their home, office, etc. and then each group takes turns resenting their ideas to the other groups.

Q: How often do you update your catalogs and offer new products?
We update our catalogs with new products two times per year.
Q: What type of warranty do the products carry?
Clever Container gives the customer 30 days to try the product out. If the customer decides that they no longer want the product, they may return the product at their expense and receive either a refund or an exchange. Defects in the product due to shipping need to be reported right away and Clever Container will send the customer a new product at the company’s expense. There is no penalty in compensation to the consultant either way. Products that break due to misuse or mishandling are not refundable or exchangeable. Some products carry longer than a 30 day warranty, up to a life-time warranty.
Q: What if I am not super organized? Can I still be a successful consultant?
If you are longing to be a consultant, but lack organizational and/or selling skills… no problem. We have a Ning network that will help address your selling skills as well as a training manual that will walk you through a show outline. As far as learning more about organization yourself, our shows are scripted so if you can read, you can simply make yourself note cards with the information on them until you learn it by heart. (Just like learning the words to a song… when you hear it over and over again, eventually you are going to be able to sing it by heart.) Right now, our shows include a Clutter Cutter Class, a Closet Clean-Out Class, an Office Organization Class, and an Organizing with Kids Class. New classes and ideas are always underway.
Q: How much support and/or training do you offer?
Several levels of support! We have monthly teleseminars that focus on the essential training topics like show outlines, bookings, and sponsoring, but they will also address anything that the consultants request. A training manual will be included in your kit. The manual outlines an entire show presentation and gives you clear directions for holding 4 different types of classes. We offer a New Consultant Orientation program designed to get a new consultant off to strong start step-by-step. We send out the Clever Communicator which keeps consultants abreast of new happenings within the company, recognizes consultants for their achievements, and offers tips for our products and getting our customers organized. We have a Ning network where our consultants can post questions, share ideas, and make social connections.
Q: Am I responsible for providing hostess rewards and booking coupons?
No. Clever Container pays for 100% of the Hostess Rewards. You keep 100% of what you earn!
Q: What about processing credit cards? Who pays for that?
Clever Container pays for all credit card processing!
Q: What is the cost of supplies (i.e., catalogs)?
100 catalogs for $48, 50 order forms for $8, combo pack of 50 catalogs + 50 order forms for $37. We also have Clever Container hostess coaching flyers, consultant opportunity brochures, business cards, car window clings, note pads, postcard invitations, magnetic clips, measuring tapes, and more!
Q: Are there opportunities to earn free vacations?
Yes! Clever Container has an annual cruise, along with consultant incentives to earn your way onto the cruise!
